What is this switch for?
Hi
What is this switch for in a factory setup?
I cannot find reference to it in the FSM.
It appears to me to have been rewired to do something else - except I cannot find what it does - seems to do nothing as flicking it at any time has no effect?
One pin is grounded, the other runs into the footwell on the left of the car (car is RHD) and I have not followed it further.
Any ideas?

Thanks

Hey,
That switch is not factory. It has been added by some owner, somewhere in the life of the car. As in, its a 2 dollar radioshack/dicksmiths/jaycar general-purpose switch.
My best advice is someone has drilled a hole into that blanking plug and fitted an ugly switch from an electronics store, to run "something" -either a stereo/boost controller/electronic something that they have added to the car.
Nobody is going to be able to tell you what a past owner has added. Its going to be up to you to trace the wiring and work it out and report back what you find.
In the Jap cars that come over, its ALWAYS a good idea to trace and isolate/remove anything dodgy that you find in the cars like that, to save wiring mishaps later on, and generally clean things back up

hmmm - maybe its for the LINK?. Would seem odd - but alas, stranger thinks have happened. If its going to the passenger wheel well it could be going into the engine/ ecu loom. But, trace it all the way and tell us what you find!

Ok thanks. It fits the switch shape too nicely to look factory! But alas yes I will trace it just for my info as seems to do nothing.
EDIT - they must have just nicely fitted the switch into the empty slot haha.

There is a good chance it is a fan mod switch. You flip the switch, and after 2 minutes, the fans come on. They will stay on for 10 minutes after the car is shut down. To test it, turn the car to the run position (with engine off), and turn the switch on. Wait for more than 2 minutes and see if the fans come on. Leaving the switch on will run down your battery.
