for all US versions 255fwhp (and all worldwide to 1996)
for later Jspec Manual Trans cars 280fwhp (Base model & Autos stay at 255fwhp) rumor has the latest Bathurst Rs at closer to 325fwhp even though they officially (per Mazda) adhere to Japan's voluntary 280hp limit

255 is engine crank HP right? Not HP at the REAR wheel. FWHP - you mean RWHP....

I think it's about 225 RWHP for stock 93-95.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think It's 255 flywheel horses, which equates to about 185 to the wheels.

All the FD i've ever seen dyno'd have been around 205-210. With a down pipe and Racing Beat intake, i put out 233-4(?)rwhp. CJ

Correct... if a stock FD is working properly getting a number over 220 RWHP is possible. Old plugs are the biggest reason people don't get this number. Well... that and boost.

Not quite. INTL cars varied quite a bit and ratings varied from 237/245/255hp depending on markets for the 92-95 years.

The Series VII cars were all rated at 265 except for autos(255). The first Series VIII RS models('99) were rated at 280 and now Mazda is including it with the Type R models. The RB models are rated at 265.

The Bathurst R model has been disconinued and was just a Type R model variant.

Expect 210-220 rwhp for a properly running FD with 10-8-10 boost pattern. maybe a few freaks around 225-230 rwhp

I said it had a cat back, but the car itself and the powerplant is all stock. Infact...it is stock right now. (stock muffler)

Well, when you dyno a car, altitude is very important. Not to mention, different dyno's will give slightly different readings. CJ

Mike Putnam dyno'd ~220 rwhp stock, put a big fan on his IC and got more, then iced down his IC and got 255 rwhp. This helps explain why some RX-7's seem faster in the 1/4 or on the street than their horsepower would indicate, they can actually make a lot more horsepower when there is plenty of airflow or when the weather is colder than usual.

The Horsepower rating for the FD is always rated at the flywheel from the factory. Not to say these numbers from car to car don't differ. That is to be expected after all every car is not exacly the same.
