What are some good recommendations...

As far as add-ons are concerned to keep a stock FD running smoothly, without overpowering the engine. Mine has about 80,000 Kilometers, and i'm not sure how bad of a history the engine has had. I only recently purchased the car(about 2 and a half weeks ago), and so far it's been good. A few issues here and there (there is a strange grinding sound when i brake which might mean I need new brakes, i've got a strange vibration at 50-60kph, and it idles erratically). Other than that it runs fine and has had no real problems.

I'm not looking to make it a track car. I'm looking to restore it to factory condition, and good shape. I want to add some exterior things, such as a new body kit and spoiler, as well as a nice set of rims and tires(nothing to extravagent). I also want to restore the interior, which has definately seen better days. I first want to start with the motor and wiring systems, and restore them to smooth working condition. I know there are alot of things i could start with, but i would rather start with the bigger vitals and work my way down. It will also help that i plan to buy a cheaper, knock-around car to keep me from running the FD too much so the restoration process runs smoother. I don't really plan to bring it back to the states at this point, but who knows what i will do in two years. I am also considering selling it soon, but i'm not too sure. I'd rather put some money into it now and up it's resale price.

Any ideas or recommendations? It's a beautiful car, but it definately needs more work.

1. Read the stickies at the top of this forum (they have faqs).
2. Your vibration problem could be due to unbalanced tires.
3. Your "JDM" car already has a downpipe, so you don't have to worry about that.
4. Install an aftermarket radiator (PWR/Fluidyne fit ok)
5. Do a tune up (new spark plug wires, spark plugs, fuel filter, etc.)
6. Install a boost gauge (.7-.5-.7 bar is about right)

The erratic idle could be due to a lot of things. Look in the factory manual for possible solutions or search. www.iluvmyrx7.com

Read the stickies, as they have a wealth of information for n00bs and seasoned veterans alike. Good luck!

The Factory manuals are no longer available at iluvmyrx7.com - instead use the ones in the first thread of the forum.
