what is this sensor for?

Ok guys, this is prolly the beginning of a ton of questions about wiring for you guys. On the drivers side, just to the right of the rear rotors trailing spark plug (just above a coolant hose) there is a sensor with a one wire connector to it. I am in the process of installing my microtech unit and would like to know what this is? Also, can it be removed? what would be the consequences? thanks

Adam

I'm guessing it's the coolant temp sensor if it's not very big, the larger one in that area is the oil pressure sender. Jack

http://www.iluvmyrx7.com has scanned factory service manuals for each FD production year. It's been invaluable to me as I've been exploring the engine bay trying to figure out what's still on my car since it's so far from stock.
