What is this relay near the hood latch?

What is this relay near the hood latch? It appears to be a relay, but it also has the same type of connectors as the factory airbag. I've got a LS swap, so I was hoping to shed some weight by removing it. Thanks in advance!

^yes, crash sensor for the air bags.

If you pull it the Airbag light will blink.
