You can use a 03-04 Cobra rear end, but quite expensive. I'd honestly just put some chromoly axles on it with a traction kit, thats what I'm going to do. I'm also shooting for 500-600.

If you need to ask this question, you are not ready to drive/build that car. Just let a professional do it.

Very few diffs can hold that kind of torque. I don't know if many FD owners have ever put down that kind of torque ever. There is a project in the works that will support your goals, but I don't know when it will be ready.

Grannys speed shop is working on a 8.8 solid rear setup for the FD. They already have one for the FC available. Id give them a call and see what they can do for you. http://www.grannysspeedshop.com/

I was going to give my input, but I drive a 'no torque rotary,' so I may as well let you figure it out on your own. After all, you're a 'big dogg,' right ?

no i didnt say i was... read a lil slower next time so you dont miss it.
are you telling me that the fd rear end and axels can hold 900fptq?? i love the fd engine and all but if you do any other setup and make big tq numbers a few KEY things have to be changed out... right? and if you have thousands and thousands of $$$$$$ already invested into a project it would be stupid to leave out anything that has a chance to brake... right???

Maybe you should post your setup on a question claiming 1000 hp so we can atleast verify that we aren't wasting our time on a newbie that has no idea what he's talking about..

Alot of guys are running a 03-04 cobra 8.8 IRS. Jimlab made a cradle a while back. Alot of guys are also running KAAZ LSDs with stock gears, and 300M axles. Either are a decent option, but if you are serious about 1000HP with drag racing in mind, Id stick to the solid axle. Call around some local speed shops, a reputable shop should have no problem fabbing up a 4-link setup for you.

so...basically you have dreams of 1000+ HP, and you're worrying about the rear end before you're even making numbers to back up your dream...

What motor do you plan on doing this with?

Also, any "big dogg" builder will tell you that for this application, you're going to want a Ford 9". But since you're already a "big dogg" yourself, you should already know this.

What is a 93 RX7/Supra anyway? Are you using a 2JZ or something?

i spoke with grannyspeed and they told me id have to use a solid axel. the kaaz wouldnt hold that kind of power. more of an issue with the cv joints thatn anything. is there anyway you could get ahold of the guys/guy who has done the 8.8 and ask him if i could buy a cradle from him?? at this point the rear end is all i have left to do. and im going to need that done b4 i hit the dyno for tuning. i want the whole car solid so i dont brake crap when tuning the car.

roach, I'm seriously interested in which motor you're using to generate 900 ft/lbs. What are you planning to do about chassis flex at that point? I don't know too much about the structural rigidity of the FD, but I doubt it'll hold up to that kind of abuse for very long.

For big power you need to talk with the V8 conversion crowd, which is usually in this subforum or at torquecentral.com.

900flbtq will be the max ill ever run, and will more than likely be just on the dyno. it'll be running from 700-800whp everyday. its a 2jz with built bottom end and built head. as far as the flex of the car... we are doing a 10 point cage with many more cross members than your average 10 point. and the guys that are doing the cage are tying it right into the frame. my shop is going above and beyond to try and help the car from flexing bad.
ill keep you all posted as soon as the build is underway. and ill take many photos to show the small details.

the 900ftlbs tq is also just a guess... it may be less even after making 1000 whp. but a guy in my town has a 1050whp supra that made just over 900ftlbs tq, so thats where my educated tq guess is coming from.
i guess ill just wait and see what it makes???? and hope for the best... untill then ill build it so it wont brake right away! lol

The 8.8 mustang cradle I was referring to was to adapt the 03-04 cobra rear end, which is IRS also. For a solid axle, you are going to need to have it custom made. I repled to you PM also.
