What is the rarest, most collectable 3rd-gen?

I know I want to buy another FD once I pay this one off, one with less miles and more value as a collector's peice. What is the most prized 3rd-gen. model? Is it the competition-yellow-mica R1? Or the chaste-white R2's? Or is it the '02 Spirit-R? (can you even find a genuine Spirit-R available for sale these days). Or maybe something else? What kind of price do you think the car would go for in today's market?

dradon03 06-17-06 01:19 PM

No doubt Spirit R's, good luck on getting it though

seanbrowning 06-17-06 01:19 PM

Well yeah spirit R, but personally a '95 chase white is rare as a mofo, so I'd pick one of those up since they are GORGEOUS. :)

Stephen C 06-17-06 01:22 PM

What do you think a numbers-matching, low-mileage, chaste-white '95 R2 will sell for?

P.S.
Is it called "chaste-white" or "chase-white"?

seanbrowning 06-17-06 01:32 PM

No idea, but if you're look at low mileage, be ready to dish it out. I found a '95 Black R2 with 50k miles and I was ready to turn out 16k in a heart beat because that car is worth 20k+ in my mind. I mean go look at how many '95 there are registered in the US, you have to take that into consideration. :)

KaiFD3S 06-17-06 01:46 PM

spirit r

is chaste-white.

U can get a good running chaste white for about $15 to 20K, that is really low milage.

tokamike 06-17-06 02:28 PM

It's Chaste White. However, 1994 and 1995 R2's did not come in Chaste White- they only came in Brilliant Black, Vintage Red, and Silverstone Metallic. If you do see a 1995 CW R2, it's not original.

1993 R1's came in Brilliant Black, Vintage Red, and Competition Yellow Mica.

IMO, Low milage bone stock CYM.

.

adam c 06-17-06 02:35 PM

The rarest FD is Pearl White, and there was only one made.

Sinister 06-17-06 02:42 PM

Its also impossible to find. Some say that Mazda still has a hold of it at their HQ. But, when I spoke to numerous Mazda reps. All confirmed that they no longer have it. Nor, do they know where it is. How do you lose a car like that? Anyway, I doubt youll be able to find this gem.

crassfc3s 06-17-06 05:02 PM

i can get you a spirit r, no bs no fucking around. wont finance youll have to work that out on your own but if your serious i can get you one. mint no miles still has plastic on it. rhd the works pm me if you want to know

ErnieT 06-17-06 05:32 PM

CYM hands down! :D, of course Im biased....

seanbrowning 06-17-06 05:42 PM

CYM isn't really that rare, weren't there less whites made in some models and CYM? I may be misinformed, but I thought I had read that somewhere. Really, a White '95 with low mileage and untouched would be my pick.

crassfc3s 06-17-06 06:01 PM

cyms are rare.....

Let me clear it up for you. CYM is the rarest color/model RX7. There were only 350 EVER made. Less than any other made.

DaiOni 06-17-06 06:54 PM

Most collectable, hands down, would be the australian SP - lowest ever production run, most power (debatable), absolutely the best selection of (mostly unique) upgrades.

some might say the sp-II - but as there is only one of those, and it wasn't, technically, sold from the showroom (it was patched back together from the base car and its parts), its status is tenuous.

cym ,350 ever produced is pretty rare in the u.s.i bought mine from the orignal owner bone stock 3 years ago paid $24.000 for it.The vechicle still had the plastic on the pass seat and on the door sills, new car smell and all.good luck on your search

BMike 06-17-06 07:19 PM

Keep in mind, a Silver R2 is actually rarer when looking at packages and production #s than a CYM R1. But overall in less "desirable" packages there were more silvers. I'd say either a Silver R2 or a CYM R1 would be the two most sought after models.

Doc-1 06-17-06 07:33 PM

To the best of my knowledge the rarest is a factory rally car. About 156 we made and shipped out. Take your time and find one. It will be worth big money. Or get a production model. It will be worth some coin also.

seven lust 06-17-06 09:49 PM

bb, vr , ss colors were made all three years ... cym was only made in 93 at 350 cars.... but a silver 95 R2 there were only 16 made ....and I have one of them :ylsuper: ...if you want one, you will have to get one of the other 15 people to give it up, because I am not........rarest color....cym.....rarest model...I would say one of the 95 R2..... this is for US versions only the others do not count....

I say the Australian RX7-SP
I might be a bit bias.
some of the upgrade parts all made from Carbon Fibre (big task for 1994)

I love the '99-spec look, but you shouldn't have altered such a rare car. :( You've actually depreciated the "value" of the car.

I can't believe there were only 16 ever made! Hold on to that one, bro. :D That's quite a find.

'87 turbo II 06-18-06 12:52 AM

CYM is my favorite, looks wise and rarity factor.

Indian 06-18-06 01:02 AM

If I was getting another FD.. hands down it would be the 2002 rz. Not the rarest, but damn well the nicest to get. IMO

nizmoHPD 06-18-06 01:37 AM

the bathurst R or the RX-7 SP IMO

Well I went back and forth on it for awhile but in the end this is what I decided. .. for one I am not a real collector of auto mobiles just an enthuisest(SPELLING)....there is a difference...my car is highly maintained and well cared for indoors and never sees rain....I love my car... and anyone that has one, should... not contemplating if they should have purchased a supra or not ...in the end when it is all said and done if I were to ever sell, I would go all back to stock...I did the install my self so it would not be hard at all...I do not really care about if I have depreciated the value of the car because I do not plan to sell so the value does not matter...it is worth what ever someone is willing to pay for it ....I do not think you should chop it up , and that I have not done...some may turn away but if you were to see my car most would not pass on the oppertunity....drive these cars !!!! they were ment to be driven , not locked up and just looked at...why lock it up and save it for the next guy to enjoy....screw that!!!! I am going to enjoy this car untill its end....no matter what production count it is....you know, a week ago I was at a salvage yard and there was two fd shells sitting on the ground....totally stripped of everything....I just sat there looking at it ... it made me sad to see that ....just rotting away... they were chopped up but still....sad to see...the point is you only live once so drive the freakin car!!!!

Narfle 06-18-06 05:55 AM

High Sellers(in no order):
White on Black
Silver on Red
Cym on Black
R1 or R2
94 or 95

DaiOni 06-18-06 07:44 AM

"bathurst R"

why?

fu11thr0t1e_RX7 06-18-06 07:52 AM

I just paid 22K for a 95 Chaste-White with under 12K original miles...I guess there were only 33 imported in 95...so I have been told. I went to the Mazda dealership in it to get some coolant and it was like the building was on fire they all came running so fast. There was a guy there looking at RX-8's and I think I blew the sale....one more guy who has seen RX-Heaven!

rx7maniac13b 06-18-06 08:22 AM

if your interested in spirit R theres Many of them in japan
i got sources in mazda in japan with pictures
but all of them are in right hand drive...and very expensive

BS, I saw the one you speak of, serial number 07 or something like that 01 or 02...
It was / is at Mazda R&D in Irvine, Ca. Last time I looked at it was Sevenstock7.... I believe...

It'd better be a museum piece, becuase you won't be able to register it here....
