What parts should I have extras?

So I'm on the verge of resurrecting my FD, and I will have a lot of extra parts that I won't be using. Once my car is back up and running I'm not going to keep all the extra parts I have laying around as most will be doubles of whats installed on the car, but from your guys' experience are there certain parts that I should keep around? You know just incase?

Thanks

Bin

It depends... If you have the storage space then keep it all so if you ever decide to go back to stock. Any discontinued parts is wise to keep and that list is growing

Personally I have 2 spare alternators which has saved my butt once already.

Two alternators check! Thanks. I have space so I may just keep things around and randomly check the wanted ads.

Stock mechanical parts? If you have room, keep them all.

+1 to keeping them all. But if if need to start, maybe some rotor housings and rotors? Damn things went up in price a lot. I luckily bought my new housings on a technicality(their website listed the combination with rebuild kit wrong but he honored the price and I bought them for $500 less than normal).

Keep everything you can bear to store. Not because the cars are unreliable, but because parts are going out of production slowly, and getting harder to find..

Yeah, I was lucky. I myself am going to start hording parts. I'm already starting to some degree. I always have my rebuilds done with new rotor housings.

I was at Mazdatrix's site and 99 spec turbos are listed as maybe discontinued. Might want to look into those too if you're into using stock turbos.

My current engine had almost everything replaced under the hood so these guys are right about keeping everything you can. I bought my car from a guy that did a rebuild himself and it ended up doing more damage than normal. I had irons, e-shaft, bearings, rotors, harness, radiator, etc. replaced. I thought my full rebuild kit with ceramic seals, gasket set and new rotor housings would be enough but they weren't. Don't forget emissions parts too .

Very good advice, exactly what I was looking for, granted if asked I would help a fellow owner out, but in terms of parts availability it does seem like there are getting harder and harder to come by.

let's make this easy..you only need one extra part.
it is called a CAR!..lol.
I found that some prices on parts were a little high,so I just bought an extra car to combat the "rising cost of inflation"..

So hoarding options:
1. Parts car
2. Keep everything that you replace or upgrade
