What next?
Im probably getting a 93 RX7. It allready has these mods now downpipe, intake, exhaust, boost gauge, temp gauge, K&N, and a upgraded clutch system converted to 929 cylenders, New fuel system from injectors to rails to pump and a FMIC from Greddy.
My question is what next? I am unfimilliar with the rotary engines. I keep reading, get a new computer. Does that mean get a PCM, or a standalone system, custom burned chip(does the PCM have a place for a chip anyway?) or is there a PCM that is a relpacement for the factory computer with diff. fuel curves, diff pulse widths, timing, etc..
Oh yea, what "should" this car run with a great driver? What do these cars run stock? Thanks in advance and I look forward to modding it. Oh yea, I like to do custom Fab work, has anyone ever tried a diff intercooler? Im talking about one from something else, lets say a Ford Lightning or whatever. Instead of spending over a grand for an intercooler, why not spend about 150 bucks on one and put it on? Of course you would have to fab diff piping, but thats not a big deal.
Sheetmetal intake, anyone ever done this?
Please dont get angry at all my stupid questions, as i plan on going a long ways and I have to start somewhere i guess. One more thing, since the rotary's have seals, has anyone ever tried a reciever groove(o-ring) on the egine to keep from blowing the seals? Or are the seals a safeguard to let you know something is not right to begin with and give the excess pressure somewhere to go?

If it still has the stock ecu, I would be wary of driving it until I got some upgraded fuel management. It sounds like you are planning on doing a lot of mods so the Power FC would be your best bet for an ecu. Haltech is another great ecu, but it's a tricky install.

with those mods and the stock ecu, i wouldnt even drive it...you should be looking at a mid 12 with those mods. They are called APEX seals btw, just make sure not to chuck one threw your turbos..lol

Every intercooler except for a few custom made for the rx7 are air to air. More people don't fab their own because they don't have the time/inclantion/skill/tools. Those mods are a lot for the stock ecu because it runs off of fuel maps with a MAP sensor instead of the mass air flow sensor on your stangs. With a MAP setup the ecu doesn't know that it's getting more air and can't compensate. As far as the groove you're talking about, it would be a bad thing, because you would get bad compression and the engine would be fuct. The apex seals in a rotary are kind of like rings in a boinger, except very different and a lot more important.

Ahh, that explains everything. I had no clue these cars were speed density. There has to be a way to raise the fp up some, im surprized noone has made something to change this stuff.
Anyway, thanks for clarafying that, i understand why you need a diff computer now. Noone sells a MAF conversion?
