The car pictured above is the MAZDASPEED RX-7, outfitted with everything Mazdaspeed. You can't buy a stock RX-7 that looks like that, unless you buy it from someone who modded a stock FD with Mazdaspeed stuff.

Available 3rd Gen (93-95) RX-7 trims include:

Base
Touring
R1/R2

if you want in depth information on 3rd Gen RX-7s (which i suggest you educate yourself on before going off to buy one) thoroughly study the following site:

I think that's the mazdaspeed front clip and side skirts on probabably newer Japanese export 3rd generation. Can't tell too much other than that as to which model it was.

Was the Spirt R out in Oct. 2001?

I think I know the blue one you are talking about. Parramatta Road

It is a Series 8 but Im not sure on the type (RB, R, RS). 54K might be the right price but it all depends on the year and kms of the car...but cheaper examples can be found that are in excellent condition.

Haha, SP, that good. I'm not giving you **** because you don't know, I'm giving whoever told you that **** because they don't have a clue either but still tried to give you an answer. Anyway, it's imposible to tell from that pic what type it is, but that show is in Japan (Tokyo Motor Show right?) so it's probably brand new.

Spirit R came out in 2003.

Ok ppl. That's a regular FD with the Mazdaspeed GTC bodykit. You buy the FD , you buy the products from Mazdaspeed and you make it like this. You cannot buy it stock as it is. Simple.

99 spec started with Type RB's (265ps), Type R's(280ps-the lightest version FD ever produced), type RS(280ps).
Mid 2000 Type RZ was produced in only white colour. In mid 2001 another special edition called Type R Bathurst was produced with only some interior mods, bilstein coilovers, BBS rims etc. Finally Mazda closed the series of RX7 with a limited edition of 1500cars called Spirit R's. 3 types of spirit R's -Type A(two red recaro seats and no back seats. Type B regular 99 spec seats dressed in red leather. Type C like type B but automatic transmission. This production ends at 2003 March.

All of them except the Type RB make 280ps and the engines are the same except the final gears that change slightly according to model. Type RB's and Type R's have 4.100 final gear while the rest have 4.300. Also a 16bit ABS system introduced in mid 2001 instead of the old 8bit one.

The rest mods are minor and mainly aisthetics.

Antonis.

I'm pretty sure the 16 bit came out in '96. If it didn't, what's the difference between '93-'95 and '96-'99?

Various reliability things. At some point the ripped out the precat, unless it was always a DP for JDM. I think they kept tweaking the suspension. Somewhere in there they added a different tail, pre 99, that I think looks kind of dorky.

Yeah, I think the later FDs got a 32 bit ABS system. I'd swear there were 3 different types of ABS.

Best body kit for a red FD IMO. Would like to get it, but performance and reliability come first and I dont have tons of $$$

rotate yep im thinking of getting one in a few months, Ive got an old skool car (Datsun 260z) now I want a new car that has looks, performance, and some thing thats unique.

Although ive seen some pretty cheap S6's I might as well just finance a S7 or S8 with low km's.

Do you own a 3rd gen?

You are probably thinking of the 2nd gens where in 86-88 it was a mechanical OMP and in 89 they switched to an electric one
