what to look for in a used FD??
im gonna be moving on from my beloved mr2s(ive owned six in the last 2 years) this winter and will be getting a FD rx7. I noticed though, that almost every single one that is on Autotrader says it has a new motor in it and most dont even have 60k on the car. Why is this? Are they really unreliable? What should i look for and ask the owner when i go to look at one? What were the recalls for the 93?
Sorry for all the questions, i just wanna be prepared

The easiest way to find answers on this forum since most of them are common from new people is use the search button at the top far right of the page. Most FD you find will be trashed, have been overheated, and have boost problems. I would do one of 3 things.
1) find a FD with a blown motor for $8-9K and go from there
2) If you plan on staying stock you'll have to spend some money on a low mileage FD - even close to $20K
3) Most FD owners have new engines because they either modded it wrong and just turned up the boost without having an ecu, coolant seals went bad, broken AST, or overheated the car early in it's life.
I'd recommend buying one with a new motor or more than likely you'll be replacing it.
