what to look for in a used fd??
hey guys, i was kinda hopin you could help me out. i dont do much surfing on this forum or know a shitload about the fd. ive had my fc for a number of years now and i know pretty much how that car runs inside and out, and i would gather that the 2 cars are very similar. i just wanted to see if there are some things that i should definately look out for in buying a used fd besides the ridiculously overpriced sticker!! this is a 93 with 52000, great cloth interior, new red paint and i belive its an R1?? he's asking 18,995. i know this cant be reasonable, the KBB says 15,500???? so if you have any pointers, let me know, thanks!!!

The FD is a completely different car than an N/A FC.
His price isn't that far out of line for a clean FD with new paint.
Go through the newbie sticky at the top. You will find more than you need to know.

true.. there were only around 13,000 FDs' in the US.. and I bet with all the salvage/junk cars, the number gets trimmed down to the low teens. Thats pretty damn rare.. the car will naturally be sold for way more than what books tell you, and this is a good thing.. but then again when you're buying a sports car this rare it comes down to "how bad do you want it?"

Rotormax, if the car is really clean and in great shape, then it's probably a good deal. You might want to take it in for an inspection or have him get the compression checked. For reference, I paid 21k for an R1 3 years ago with 31k miles. Good luck!
Also, you can't depend on KBB for accurate pricing. It all comes down to how nice the car is and how much YOU can afford to spend.
