may I ask WHY you want to keep the battery in the engine bay? It really does look a lot less cluttered with it moved.

Because some of us have no desire to hack up one of our storage bins for the dubious benefit of relocating the battery. The 51R is much smaller and lighter than stock and still provides good power/reliability.

I started with a Miata battery and wasn't happy with its grunt after a few months in the cold weather so I switched to an Optima Yellow which I mounted in a rear bin.

That's where I bought mine...also bought clean looking metal case in black. As far as charge problems, I can't really say, I just installed it last weekend. I think a lot guys here are saying it's fine for a daily driver...

Hawker Oddyssey PC680........doesn't like cold weather, but winter is on its way out. Never had a problem with it in warmer weather.

Same seller from that Ebay link I posted earlier. They don't have it on the page anymore as an extra item so ask them about it. They have/had it in aluminum and gloss black. $25

Here I found another link on the net.

the pc680 gave me no problems yet. I started the car up after 3 weeks without it being started (snow sucks) up here in new york in 9 degree temps. It gave me no problems and started right up. I was pretty surprised. I think its a great batter, it small and doesnt weighs less then half the stock battery.
