What kind of intake is this? New custom intake?

I read this aussie 'Motor' article from iluvmyrx7.com. On page 9 of the article, there is a CF custom intake. The mag says that it's got ducts to the front end for air. Does any one know if anyone sells this?

Here is the link to the page 9 of the article which has a decent pict of the intake:

Thanks,
David

That is a STOCK CF intake Mazda made for the SP edition of the FDs in Oz.

Nice, eh? I think someone priced it out once at like $1500 from the dealer. It even has Mazda molded right into it.

it's the mazda SP intake. it was only available as part of the australian "SP" package along with a few other SP parts. you used to be able to get those parts through mazda austrailia, but it's been a long time so it might be pretty hard now. just search for articles on the SP. there was atleast one forum member with a black SP.

Thanks for the ID. The mag claims that the intake has cold air ducts. Does anyone have a better picture of it? I wonder where in the nose does the duct draw air from and how the duct connects to the air box. It sounds like something I would like to make/buy.

It probable has the standard ducts like most of the aftermarket intakes that we have. It most likely uses the empty side next to the radiator, but since CF doesn't heat up like aluminum, this is probably a better solution..
