what IC

i will be looking to buy an IC but just want to make sure i have a right one, basically i want to stay with my stock twins and squeeze as much power i can out of it, not gonna prepare it for track or whatever, i enjoy streets more :](maybe someday i will take it to santa pod to test it :]) the thing is im not sure what IC would be the best for me - i know everyone is gonna say V-mount but this is more like a fashionable thing at the mo(well im not sure just IMHO people dont even know if they need them - jus want them because they the latest thing..) i really like FMIC but someone told me i wont need it for what i use my car, that they r for drag racing..what else then? SMIC? it looks like just a standard IC would it make any difference?? and if not then what? V- mount? but explain why...

cheers

Best Idea is to search its been a huge topic on the forum. Ill break it down for you from what I have learned. The V-mount setup is the best hands down because it keeps the air temps and water temps cool and it allows for loads of power having such a large intercooler. I would say SMIC are second best because they dont block the radiator (if you just want to use the twins this is the way I would go). SMIC might have issues at high horsepower application but you dont need to worry about that with the twins. Now FMIC obviously if it were just based on looks it would be the best looking just seing that intercooler in your grill its just awesome looking. Now the problem with FMIC is that your water temps will go up because you block air going to the radiator even if its an aftermarket temps will still go up, for some people this is okay because the areas they live in. the air temperatures outside dont get to high so its not that big of an issue for them. It hotter temperatures its a bigger issue. Hope I helped out with my limited knowledge

A stock mount would be easier for you to install and does not affect radiator cooling but heat soaks more.

A FMIC like the Blitz that does not totally block the radiator nose inlet and cools the air better but would require some additional ducting to restore radiator cooling to it's optimum. But a Koyo "N" pass also solves this problem. I have this setup with both the ducting and "N" pass but it takes more mechanical skills to setup properly.

"V" mount is more for race cars and would need a seperator plate for benefits on the street. It also requires additional fan/s for the A/C to work but being in the UK it might not be a requirement. Also requires more setup skills.

All SMICs are expensive. The Pettit Coolcharge is a decent IC as long as you have it ducted.

Here's a link with some dated information about previous revs of the Greddy SMIC, ASP ICs, and the Coolcharge II

Search!!

Like was discussed earlier, just "search" on your own instead of wanting everything "spoon-fed" to you.

You knew the manufacturer, you could have linked to this:

http://www.pettitracing.com/

There is a 'ton' of info on this website; however, you just need to put forth some effort to look for it yourself.
