on the stock air box there are a few hoses that blow back into the airbox. On the driver side of the air box, the one that is on top blows into a silencer/resonator box inside the lid. What is this it comes out of the motor next to the uim. I guess my real question is is it ok if it blows into the air without a filter on the end of the hose? The intake I bought was used and didnt come with the silencer that goes here, so I made one and it silences it but has no filtration. My intake is a pettit.

Well, I'm not sure exactly which hose you're talking about, but in this pic, counting intake hoses from the bottom of the pic up, is it the third one from the bottom?

if not, can you save the pic and put an arrow or something on the hose you're talking about?


I know it isn't the pettit intake, but the hoses are all the same anywho.

 

That is the bypass air vent. It vents excess air from the Air Pump via the ACV (Air Control Valve) It only VENTS so needs NO filtration It does however need a muffler/slincer of some sort to prevent the dreaded MOOING Sound.

 

MOOING sound, yep thats the one. If it needs no filtration im good, I made a silencer out of a paintball gun hopper and it seems to work well.
