what does the oil light mean?

Hi, the oil light came on while driving down the road and the pressure was fine so i decided it was time to change the oil anyways. after i did i cranked it up and the light was still on, but the pressure was good, so we reset the ecu but its still on. what are my other options? thanks for the time and help, scott

I'm pretty sure the oil light only comes on when you are low on oil, but i dont see why if you filed it back up you wouldn't make the light go out.

!!!IT MEANS IT'S TIME TO SELL YOUR FD BEFORE YOU **** IT UP!!!

On second thought the oil light wire might be grounded somewhere. But I could be wrong.

thanks for the replies, it was checked as soon as the light came on becasue i frequently check it and it was full, and i change the oil religiously, so i figure it must be the sender since it does it after the change, i will trace it tomrrow and see whats goin on, thanks, scott

Doubt its your oil pressure sender. Mines a piece of **** that jumps and sticks like Muhammed Ali. But never once has the light or buzzer went off.Try to soft start the engine to reset your ecu. Put the key in the ignition and turn on then off 3 times without cranking the engine.I dont think this is going to help but at this point you might as well start eliminating the things you know that it is not. Good Luck
