what does this hose do? pic inside

i was helping a friend install a SMIC and intake. the install whet great but upon installing the SMIC we found a cracked hose. the link below is a pic of the (dissconected/cracked hose where the flash light is shining on it) the car was running great and boosting fine before we found it was cracked so i was just wondering what the hose does and how safe is it to drive the car with it being cracked/dissconected. also if anyone knows the name/part number that would be appriciated.
thanks
alan

The air pump injects oxygen into the cat so that your car is more emissions friendly.

you dont have to get it from a mazda dealership. Go to like Ace or Home depot and get like 3-4 inch rubber tubing, that should work fine. Just make sure its sturdy
