Personally (and I know people will hate this), I'm all about Darwinism when it comes down to cars... any car, for that matter. Sacrifice others to make mine better. I'd buy it, part it out, sell the roller, and upgrade mine. In your case, you'd have a nice chunk of change left over towards a better FD; maybe even a manual, if that's what you're looking for.

The cardinal sin with FDs is to underestimate. The second worst thing is to assume. Camaros are easy to drive, cheap, and tolerate abuse. This car is entirely different. If your goal is to buy a import just to spite f-body owners you're looking at the wrong car.As for the driving comment, it doesn't mean squat. You're not fooling anyone if you want it to prove something to your friends but you say you'll baby it. One year of driving a shadow or any regular fwd does not make your driving "fine".Good luck

Im not trying to impress others. I really dont care what my friends think. I just get enjoyment driving in a nice car. Why do you guys have rx-7 and not other car? I agree that the driving comment doesnt mean squat. Thats why you learn how to drive a car. You take it slow. Get to know the car. Driving a year is nothing i agree. If i dont get this one running, i can always resell it for more money.

Well you still need to get it checked out before dropping dollars.

You never know - if you prove the engine is blown you might get it for even less.

No, talked to him today he wont even drop the price. He knows its dead. When he started it, last summer. It made a banging/clanking/clicking noise. Im trying to have someone look at it. I have no clue who can work with rotaries around here. Mazda dealership? but then i would have to already buy the car and ship it to the dealership. He said to get a new engine it will be 5 grand. He is greek and cant speak english.

Avoid dealerships. If you're serious, buy the car, have it towed to IR Performance, and be ready for the worst. The worst can include, but is not limited to new rotors, new housings, new intermediate irons, new turbos, new wiring harness, new tranny, new differential, etc...

Either way, if you happen to spend $6000 for some odd reason on a new motor and labor. You still have a $9000 running FD with good interior and decent exterior. I wouldn't be complaining if I could find a deal like that!

I would buy it in a heartbeat like others said, 3k is a steal. I would pick it up before someone else does.

I do have a back up car in case the 7 goes down. It's a sports car, I rather have a choice to drive something else in case I am doing something to the 7. Always good to have a beater to drive around just in case.

Umm, what? You crashed your beater, and you were considering an FD?

There was a deer on the road so i swerved and hit a stump. It sounds worse than it really is but not worth fixing it. The axel ripped off. The car was only 500 dollars.

Swerving when you see a deer is bad driving.

I'm not joking either. I don't think you realize what it takes to make a RWD car turn, or even doing a burnout in an RWD car can end in disaster for an unexperienced driver. You're going to think "this car handles like it's on rails" then you'll take a turn way faster than you're capable of handling and you're gonna crash. You'll kill yourself in an FD, though as Anthony put it, it's just as well if you do.

I'm ready to buy that FD and part it out :P. Anyone else have a $3k FD?

Too bad I'm in TX.

Oh and swerving off the road to avoid a deer is bad. You're supposed to just hit the sucker.

Be sure you drop the gas tank and have it cleaned out. By the looks of that photo of the filler door there's some funky spunk growing inside there...

Sorry about your car. But it’s obvious that “your driving skills” aren’t fine. Seriously how good could they be? At 17 how much experience is there to have? I’ve been driving five years LONGER than you’ve been alive lol.

Being a good driver is a combination of factors. Control of the vehicle, knowing what’s around you, being able to forsee a situation before it happens, and once you’re in deep **** knowing what is the best course of action with the least harm to yourself and others. Sometimes you just know that you are going to hit something and it’s your choice to pick what you are going to hit. All of this comes with years of experience that you just don’t have at 17.

Enough of that:
Now a 3k FD is good deal if you have the money and means to fix it. Buying an FD is not hard to do. Keeping it on the road that’s where it gets tricky.

BTW I give you props for coming in here and being honest about totaling you car especially after claiming that your driving skills are fine. As long as you are careful and truly believe that your driving skills require experience you should be ok. Good luck.

Sorry about your Daily Driver. Faced with a choice of hitting a deer or a stump, the stump may be a better choice. A stump won't go through the windshield, a deer might.

I've taken the RX-7 to a few autocross events. I have experienced what SLOASFK is talking about. Twice in one day I was driving hard, but I thought well controlled, and suddenly the FD went end for end. Granted it was raining, but it still surprised me. Nice thing about autocross, I only bent a few orange cones.

I'm not a great driver, but I probably only know that because I have been driving almost 34 years. If you asked me 30 years ago, I probably would have said I was a great driver. I would have been wrong.

The FD is a great car and fun to drive. I let my 17 year old drive mine. I hope (and seriously pray) that he is as smart as I think he is and doesn't hurt himself. At the same time, I won't let him get motorcycle. I did that when I was young and am way to smart to let my son ride as long as I have any say in the matter.

Since you don't have a daily driver now, I'd think several times about getting this one now. I'd suggest you get a reliable DD first, then think about a "fun" car.

3 grand is very cheap. If you don't want to buy it I am in Ohio and will be more than happy to. Seriously you should jump all over it, start learning and saving. The car is worth 10k running, that leaves plenty of headroom. PM me his phone number if you decide not to buy it,

Yes, everything did change after the crash, i might have to get a daily driver before this car. But the guy isnt selling it. He doesnt care if he sells it or no. He wont repair it for couple of years either. I might just wait on this one.

If I had the opportunity... I'd crate up the motor I'm putting in my FC at the moment.. Fly to PA, buy the car, do the swap and drive it home. no questions asked.
