what do ya think??

1993 R1

It's VR with perfect black interior, nothing cracked, missing, broken on the interior.

It has 40k miles, with all work done under warranty at the Mazda dealership up until about 30k i believe.

The only mod is a pioneer head unit with 6 disc changer.

the paint is in good condition, no dents or small dings, the wing is a teeny bit faded, and same with the mirrors, but that's me being picky.

I can pick it up for $18k cash....is that a good deal??? I know low mileage good condition R1's can go for a pretty penny, I just really want to know, or else I'll be buying an M3.

what year M3?

there has to be a reason why you sold your first FD..and VR is soo common, not saying that particular one isnt worth it but you should have kept your other fd..

i would get the m3..if its the e46 though

I agree with the "VR is sooo common" I never thought about that, but it's true.

I'm looking at two E36's. One is black on black, 95 with 72k miles and 12k left on a warranty. And the other is a 97 Techno Violet on Black Cloth with 100k miles (well maintained though, PERFECT black cloth interior).

And the reason I sold the FD that, in fact, I just bought a month ago was because a kid I used to know came up to me on the street and said "how much you want for it?" I told him $17k but I needed a couple of days to think about it, and he goes "$18k cash"

So there ya go...more opinions, I'm still torn here, my FD will be gone on Tuesday once the banks open!

I wasnt even selling my 7 and this kid came up and offered that. But that was about a week ago and I thought he might flake. I had already taken a look at those two M3's and so I decided to try and put the 7 up for sale.

When he asked how much I wanted...i thought for a sec then "high balled" him $17k, and he wanted it right away so he said $18k...crazy foker!

But he didn't flake and we are going to the bank on Tues. to get the $18k CASH

I'm just not impressed with sedans, no matter who makes them.

Depends on the car. 2 doors = Coupe. 4 doors = Sedan. They did have a 4-door version of the E36 M3, but they are fairly rare. Most likely he's looking at a 2 door which would be a Coupe.

Either way that sounds like a cherry FD. Wish it was one of my options when buying.

$18k sounds about right if it really is in immaculate condition.

A friend is a mechanic at a BMW dealership, and he has told me consistently over the years-----do NOT own a BMW off warranty, especially one of the M3 models. "You think modded FDs are bad? You should see what I deal with at the dealership!"---that is a direct quote.

So I'm picking up the 95 M3 with 72k miles and 12k left on the warranty. It is SUPER CLEAN, and I'm getting it for $15.9k

Everything goes down tomorrow! I'm happy with my choice, and I'll still be on the RX7 forums for sure!

Umm why not?? These cars are great and I'll eventually be adding a second 3rd gen and a 2nd gen black vert to my collection as well as a gsl-se..

There are SOME people here who actually collect or enjoy owning these things around here.

Just cause its not what you would do doens't mean its wrong.

I have had 2 E36 M3's, and a 325. I had nothing but fun with these cars, and never had any problems with them. Allways use Mobile 1 synthetic, and buy the shark injector www.bavauto.com Best money you will ever spend. My M3's were sedans, but the nice thing is that the 4dr handles better then the coupe. Plus thier is more room for ladies to jump in.

Too funny....thing is there's more room in the M3 2 door than there is in the FD

I had a "lady-friend" break my head unit (wasnt that great anyway) trying some, shall I say, daring maneuvers in the FD .

I'm so ready to get this M3...I'll post up some pics in this thread of the M once I obtain her.
