What to do now?

In removing my inter-cooler piping I have run across a stray vacuum line with what appears to be a broken check valve......

I am pretty sure I know what it goes to though.

I checked the vacuum diagram and I am pretty sure it is the vacuum line off the double throttle. I was able to confirm this by opening the throttle and sure enough, there is air moving through the disconnected line when the throttle is opened and closed.

The problem I am having is I have no idea where the other end of the line went!! I have looked down the side of the motor where the rest of the line should lead to and I don't see anything. I have checked on top of the motor in front of the UIM and I am not seeing it there either.

Could this have been removed to disable the double throttle?

Will I have any problems with this line in its current state?

The line I am referring to is in the red circle and has half of a check valve on it. The picture has a bad angle on the it. The line "running" into the check valve is actually below the check valve.

It's not exactly a charcoal filter, but it IS a filter. That's just the way it should be. I'm still not sure why Mazda put the filter on a vacuum hose like that - other solenoids have the little filter right on the solenoid itself.

But, you DO have stock check valves - if you want to upgrade them to the Viton ones, PM me for info.

Well that is good news. So I take it the vacuum digram does not show this line on it then?

I already got a set of new check valves, I have just been lazy and not put them on yet. That will be taken care of next week though.

Hehe, after I posted that I thought you had bought some .

I think it may be somewhere in the diagrams. Actually, I think part of the reason it's like that is for the automatic cars - they have another vacuum tank for the auto tranny, and I think that line may go to it or something.

Anyhow, no big deal regardless, it's most likely hooked up to the right one and it "looks" right from your picture, so I don't think that's any problem there.
