what to do with insurance money...
got my check from the insurance today (im sure you all remember the armadillo incident from last week...). its for about $1050 (was $1300 but the deductible was $250) now what to do with it?
OPTION 1
+ Carbon Creations (cwest style) bumper & 99spec signals. Leave unpainted, but order sideskirts and rear bumper SOON (and leave them unpainted also).
OPTION 2
+ Carbon Creations (cwest style) bumper & 99spec signals. Get it painted (with my own money, not insurance money) to match car. Order sideskirts and rear bumper SOON and have them painted also.
OPTION 3
+ replica cwest bumper, replica cwest sideskirts, & 99spec signals. Get it painted (with my own money, not insurance money). order rear bumper SOON and have that painted also.
yes i know the cwest kit is "WAY OVERUSED" but i dont care. i like it, and there arent any cwest kitted rx7s in my area. wait...there are only like 6 FD's total around here anyway.

D) Get a used Silver Stone Mica stock bumper from another user and either pocket the difference or install some power upgrades. Do the work yourself, of course.

no point in going with Option2, i doubt CC's version of the kit is any lighter than the fiberglass one. And since your silver, it would look odd with different color bumpers on them. IMO, painted bumpers look better...but carbon hoods and wings are acceptable.

well, i was thinking that the carbon fiber would be stronger than the fiber glass also (not just thinking about weight)....
i would think the carbon fiber would be less likely to crack if something bumped into it, compared to fiber glass that is.
either way, im sure if i do get the carbon one i want it painted
by the way, how hard is it to prep and install the 'replica' fiberglass bumpers.

Look at the fitment on this photo of the car Carbon Creations themselves show off and ask yourself if you really want their kit.
Personally, I think if you have to order a kit and destroy the beautiful look you have going now, you should keep looking for something that compliments the FD's lines much better than the boxy CWest kit.

For that $$, you probably can get a WHOLE replica kit from Rotary extreme.
What you go under the hood??
If you can live with the lil damage, $1000 in engine mods in the F/S forum
could do some good.

You could still get in on the group buy from Chuck at Rotary Extreme for the Polyurethane 99 Spec Front Bumpers with NO PLATE. I ordered one. The only problem with this is that you probably won't get the bumper until AT LEAST Thanksgiving. The cost is $475, but the group buy ends on 10/15/04.
When I began my search for a new bumper (mainly for better FMIC cooling), I looked at EVERY different bumper out there including the C-West. What I don't like is the fact that the nose doesn't ever curve back into the car but only curves down and cuts back.
Of course, whatever you think looks good will be what you should get because ultimately you will be the one driving the car everyday and "living with it."
BTW: I'll probably be at Bradenton this Saturday for the Drag Warz event. Hopefully with a better clutch and upgraded diff I will be able to do better than last time.

it doesnt matter which one you get...its still going to be ugly.
you should just replace the stock stuff and put the money where it belongs...under that hood.

I imagine the Carbon Creations bumper is 80% fiberglass anyways. Don't buy it for the imaginary strength. It's just a waste of money and horrible fitment. If you are dead set on a cwest bumper then get it. Opinions are like ********, everybody has one

Keep in mind, Fiberglass will crack, carbon fiber will shatter.
The other problem with aftermarket parts is that for most of them you need the whole kit or it will look like ****.
