What To Do About Stained Rear Bumper?

Yo guys,

I'm finally getting all this black crap on my bumper from my exhaust pipe and I don't think that it will rub out with a good wash. How do you all avoid this? Should I just live with it?

Thanks
HVD

Wash the car every week! Or at least dust the bumper every few days. Put tons of wax on it.

To clean it, some people use clay bar, some use cleaner wax.

Clean up the inside of the tail pipe with a rag, degreaser. This will cause less gunk to be blown out.

Man its a pain in the *** to keep clean isnt it. My car is white and it shows bad so i have to wash it every time i take it out. A good cleaner wax works really well like Mequires . Also if u do not have time a dry towel will take most of the oil off.

Tell me about it with the white FD's, **** last week I washed my car and I parked it in the driveway and all these birds have nested at my house because I have the arch shaped tile roof so they get into the little crevices, so I leave with some friends to go eat lunch and I left my car at home, when I got back there was like 10 birdcraps on my hood, I was so pissed 'cuse I had just spent all that time cleaning the car.

Hi dzungh,

Just like twntrbo recommended, the Meguires cleaner wax (wax cleaner?) is what I use on my car. It's easiest to come off right after you have washed your car and then apply the Meguires (it should come right off). Just use a clean cloth to apply and wipe it off. It may take two or three applications if the black residue has been on the bumper for a while. Later - Tommy

Thanks guys. I actually never used a polish, I've just used Meguiar's Gold Class Wax. I guess it's time to try. I heard it actually makes a big difference in shine as well compared to just plain wax. Take care and have a nice weekend.
