What to do about factory chip guard when repainting?

I will be getting my FD repainted in a few months. My paint is 95% perfect, but I want to enter a few car shows this summer, so I want it freshened up. I was wondering what everyone else does about the wrinkle chip-guard paint that is on the bottom side of the car? My body-man suggested sanding it down smooth, but I wasnt sure if that was the best option. Any opinions?
Thanks...

If you want to retain the functionality of the chip guard with better looks you might try sanding it off and painting and then once the paint is good and cured <like a month later> stick on some of that 3m clear rock guard stuff. Aside from the nearly invisible line where it stops its like its not even there. Definately a better solution for a "show" type car.
