Question What could be wrong?

I have a 93 rx7 R1. After I leave it sit for a while (2 weeks) it has a rough time starting. This is just a recent thing. The car has only 52,000 miles on it. After I let it run it starts fine. It also doesn't seem to have any power or boost problems while running. Just wonder what's going on.

Nothing as drastic as a new engine I hope. Haven't had the chance to check the battery.

Check that battery, but it would seem that it's just the car sitting and no major problem. *how much* trouble would you say it has starting if it sits for 2 weeks? I know most cars will have a little trouble if they sit for too long, so maybe it's just normal. Besides all this, why is it sitting for weeks at a time without you driving it? That's just blasphemy :p

My dad and i have had a 1st gen 2 second gens and a 3rd gen, all of them have that problem. If the battery isn't absolutely fully powered its hard to start the cars. very normal.

Thumbs up

I'm from montana, snow+RX7=very bad, one reason it's not driven. I'm am in reno right now w/o the car. I have to go back to MT to get it tomorrow. Then it WILL BE DRIVEN. Not to many add ons yet, only an intercooler, exhaust, and air intake. Next is a down pipe, any other advice on what else to get?

By the way thanks for the replies, eases the mind a little. If nothing is wrong, any body want to by a Wrecked 93 R1, engine and tranny most likely still okay, body trashed (damn deer and ditch). If not, any suggestions on how much to sell it for?

THANKS AGAIN

Try this..

Just tap the starter and let go of the key. Do it like 5 or 6 times. This will help prime the fuel system really good, then let er rip all the way and see if it starts ok.

Hey MTrx7 in my opinion, it´s time to improve your ECU.

I hope you can fix that starting problem soon.

I mean improve your ECU because your modifications: air intake, intercooler , exhaust and a dp , not for your starting problem.

good luck!.

With those mods you are lucky the engine has not blown, maybe because you don't drive it hard? Usually after two and definetely after 3 of the 5 main mods you want some kind of ECU upgrade. Good luck.
