What could be the problem?

I am trying to get back into a FD and I found a car that is exactly what I want. T78 single turbo, built rotary, coilovers, everything that needs to be done has been done to it.

Anyway, I went to go see the car and the owner was saying that it wasn't running right. Said it had a rough idle and that it wasn't "pulling as hard as it used to"

According to the owner, he said that the car was running 100% a week before but it had a slight oil leak. When he brought the car in to get a new oil pan, he said they had to jack the engine up a little and things it may have disconnected the HKS Ignition system box. When he went to go hook it back up, the shop said that it wasn't even hooked up correctly in the first place so they went and hooked it up and ever since then it's been having those problems.

Has anyone had this type of a problem? I'm trying to figure out what the problem could be and if I want to go through with buying the car. They just got back to me saying that the car got back from the shop and they fixed the problem and it's 100% again but I'd like to know what the problem could be and if it could happen again.

before you get crazy about that 7 you need to have a compression test done on it. i wouldn't put any money down on ANY 7 without numbers on the faces.

I don't remember the circumstances which forced you to get rid of your previous RX7, but do you think this is the right car for you? Purchasing a heavy modified RX7 has it's pros and cons. If you don't understand what's done to the car or how to work on it, you'll be in for a nightmare. If you plan to have a shop do all your work, have the shop you trust check it out. Paying them for an hour of labor to check the car out could save you a few thousand down the line (or at least give you peace of mind).

No offense, but why not just ask? I'd ask the owner which shop it was taken to and if possible, speak directly with whoever worked on it. It's quite possible that while your getting that explanation you might also get an impression of what THEY (the shop) think of the car.
