What is connected to the oil filler neck?
Where you pour the oil into the engine there is a little splice coming off the neck. Mine is hooked up to nothing and thus air is free to come and go as it pleases. I think this might be the cause of my weird oil pressure readings. My car has significan work (converted to non-sequential twins) and I think it may have been disconected for a reason. What did it used to connect to? Should I leave it alone or try and plug it? Is there a good way to close it up if so?
Sorry about the double post. I cant delete the other thread. I did some reading and it seems that my bad oil pressure readings are probably from both my sensors going out. The light will come on and off randomly and I can usually kick it off by jerking the car around or do a quick romp on the gas. The gauge will work half the time, showing perfect readings, then the other half sit on 0 and move very little despite throttle position. Still, I want to know what that splice off the filler neck is for.
the lower nipple goes to the intake elbow on the primary turbo. the upper nipple goes to the PCV valve. Neither are required in your case. I would plug them & not vent them.
They are in the nonpressurized section of the oil system, so they will not effect oil pressure or readings
