What is the stock coating on the 3rd Gen wheels? Just the stock wheels, not the chromed ones. The pricing on powder coating will depend on how hard it is to get the stock coating off.

they have some sort of paint on them. It comes off pretty easily with a bead blaster.

You're real close Only the front half is painted/coated, everything behind the spokes is raw.

 

Do you know if the clear coat is a painted clear coat or powder coat clear coat? I assume it is painted. If it is it will only cost $5 per wheel for sandblasting and $25 per wheel for powder coat. $120 is a sweet price for gunmetal powder coated rims.

 

90% sure it's painted clear coat.

 

'93's were painted silver
'94's and up were painted silver with a clear coat

This is why the wheels on '93's look dirty no matter how recently or thoroughly they've been cleaned.

 

I doubt you can make such a blanket statement. There were several changes in 93.

Also your wheels probably look dirty because the paint is damaged from wheel cleaner or brake dust.

 

On my 93 (2/92 build date) my wheels are completly painted & clearcoated. though most of the clear is peeling or oxidized
