What is the cause of backfire when in reverse

Seems my 94 FD backfires when in reverse going slow and when pressing the clutch. Anyone know what the root cause of this is? I have original everything with 37K miles.

Mine pops a bit a low rpms when cold also.

I believe this is because the car is running really rich at start up, until it warms up.

The rich exhaust gas ignites, in the exhaust system, causing the popping...

I think that is what happens...

Please correct me if I am wrong...

Later,
Patrick
