What is CARFAX?

I have been hearing about checking up VIN #s on CARFAX? What exactly is it? What can you find out? Is it expensive?

it tells you what the previous owner had done to the car, and if there were any accidents or signs of fraud. its pretty damn helpfull.

carfax can be useful, but it won't tell you everything. My new FD (pics and description to come soon!) has been in at least two minor accidents. The carfax report was clean. Don't trust it as the absolute truth.

"minor" accidents and fender benders dont need to be reported. its when there is serious damage. thats what matters.
