I think BMWs and Mercs are a huge waste of money.
My brother has a Volvo S60 T5 chipped+modded (around 350hp).. It can outrun my car... It does 0-100km in around 4.9 seconds..

Heh, noway can you get such performance in a BMW or a Merc.. but, my FD still kicks *** at image.. I get more heads turning. :P

if it's a 325. Just turn your stock FD on.

325is vs FD

Unless your FD is running on only one rotor, you should have no trouble. I have a five series with a friggin V-8 and while it is fast, it is no match for my FD. Even without the mods on my FD, it would be still faster than the 540.

My friends has a 94 325is and i would spank him like the naughty school girl that he was. I would just pull on him like a crack ***** and then let him catch up and just romp his *** again and be another 5 cars ahead.

Dude, With all due respect to BMW( and respect is most definitely due), they can't hang. That is of course excluding the M's. Both the M3 and M5 are beautifull cars, and if you are stock to mildly modded, you shouldn't sleep on them.
I spanked my friends 330 so hard that his passenger asked if he was trying. The only reason I didn't waste him harder than I did was because I spun 2nd gear so hard that I kicked sideways for a full second. At the end of the straight we were on, I was like 10 car lengths ahead. You should have no problem.

if you have a dp and know how to drive you should be even with a new m5, and the m3 will be about 2-3 car lenghts back

I wasted a 3-series in my 2nd gen Eclipse GSX. Guy was a cocky bastard. It didn't take much effort either.

no way in hell

Both the M3 and M5 are fully capable of ripping off a 13 second pass at over 110 mph. The average FD with only a downpipe is going to get shredded from a stop or a roll. Assuming equal drivers of course.

You should be able to take the 325 with no problem. I SMOKED my friend's 330ci with an intake with no problem.

considering the car that a big assumption. i raced a new m3 twice, once from a roll and then from a stop light and i had him by 2 car lenths. my friend had a 95 540is with a dinan supercharger and it was almost as fast as the fd from 40-100.

Anybody ever heard of that "T" word?...TORQUE.

That is why a BMW M3 or M5 and Mercedes C32, SLK32,CLK55 or any AMG will tear your near stock FD a new ***. Look at the torque curves.

I work for Mercedes, trust me They should not be underestimated. I drive them up every day. The new SL55 has 469 hp and over 500 lbft. of torque.

I've never heard of the new m3 or m5 running 110+, i've seen a few do low 14 and one in the high 13 sec range. By the way those M3 engines are like time bombs, my friends have bmw's and they tell me that the new m3 engine blows up quite often, its consider normal. theres a guy that works near me and his engine let go at 7k miles. But dont get me wrong i think they are good cars, the torque on the new m3 is almost instant.

If an E46 M3 or an E39 M5 are running high 13's/14's then they must be launching in 2nd gear or have really crappy drivers.

As far as the orginal question goes, a 325is would get beat by a stock Accord V6.

torque and hp can be mathematically related. torque is just considered "power" in the low end, where hp refers to high end power. so the whole torque argument doesn't hold up in my mind, although it would be nice to light up the tires from 1500rpm.

with that said, yes, they will be tough from a low rpm (ie 5mph) roll, but once you are going the low-end torque factor not as much of an issue.

plus they are solid, well built cars. anybody know the weights of the M3 and M5? i imagine that they are pretty hefty.

If you're racing from a 5mph roll, slip the clutch to keep your revs up, then feather it out once you're going.
