Well its almost that time, what do you guys think of this one?

Well its pretty much the time for me to be getting my fd, so im starting to look around. I found one car that sparks my interest and seems to be the best one within a 100 mile radius.

its a 93 touring in black. I emailed the owner and got one response back, that stated....

"Hi,

With regard to the RX7 I have for sale, I am not selling it for mechanical reasons. It's more out of necessity. I'm a full time student without a job, and I am paying for my tuition out of pocket, so I could really use the cash.

The car had approximately 90K miles on it in 2000 when I had then engine replaced with a brand new engine. There are no modifications to the car, I just swapped out the old engine (which blew the apex seals) for the new. At the same time I put in a new clutch.

Since I purchased it in 1998, I have also replaced the heater core and the A/C within the past few years and replaced the fuel rail as well. If you look on *Removed* there are roughly 20 pictures posted, including the brake pad wear and the tire tread. I had the car checked over at Mazda in June, just prior to posting it for sale to see if there were any problems with it. Mazda's report card came back with every item checked an A+, except for the brakes which they said were at almost 50% wear.

Cosmetically, this car looks great for 11 years old. There are three minor dings in the right front fender, one in the left quarter panel and one on the trunk, but nothing that took away from the overall appearance. The paint is in very good condition and there is no rust. There are a few blemishes on the roof, just over the driver's door that can probably be buffed out, I just don't have a orbital buffer. You can see the only flaw in the interior from the pictures is the driver's seat, which has a small separation at the seam on the leather. I am told it is not that expensive to repair. Unfortunately, I just don't have the extra cash to have it done right now. I did purchase new custom floor mats and a momo carbon fiber shift **** to replace the worn leather one.

This car was driven in Atlanta, Georgia until 2002 when I had it transported on a carrier up to *Removed*. It has always been garaged kept, and has never seen the snow or salt since it's been here.

It has approximately 110K miles on it now and runs great! I am open to negotiation on the price, so if you are still interested in it, please make an offer. I hope I've covered everything, but if not, you can call me at *Removed* for more info.

Thanks for replying! - Laura"

- Well things I can see, its good that it has a brand new engine instead of a reman, and I beleive its stock port. The old engine lasted to 90k which is pretty good. New clutch is good as well. Its good that the a/c and things were replaced but im wondering why they had to be. And its good that it was for sale back in june, because that means hopefully it wont get stolen before I check it out, but that also means something could be wrong so it gets turned down.

The dings are no big deal to me, I can pull them out if they arent really bad, and I can buff out the blemish hopefully, something I have to see. The drivers seat does look hit, but racing seats are going in anyways. No snow= no rust= good. 20k on the new engine should have a few years left in it (not my daily driver, more of a weekend/nice day warrior)

Also its a girl owner, now obviously shes really into cars since she hunted it down in georgia, but she has to be younger if shes in school and has no job. A girl will probably take better care of a car then a guy usually would and probably didnt race it, but girls, no offence, have bad habbits of missing the little things, like good oil, the right gas, regular oil changes ect, so im going to have to pick her brain when I look at it, and I asked a few more questions but didnt get an answer back. Im not going to look at it untill I have my loan ready either, so probably 1-1.5 weeks. And I might be able to get it for about $13,500.

And the car is VERY clean looking, attached a few pics (not full size, hope they arent to big). What do you guys think? And I hope she doesnt see this and research the answers ill be looking for

Well, I seriously doubt it was a "NEW" engine. Mazda doesn't sell them, and to built one from all new parts from MazdaTrix is close to $8k.

It's most likely a reman which is not a problem. I've been beating on a reman since '99 without any problems as of yet.

Just do the usual checks, carfax, compression test, and the test drive. If it all checks out, go for it.

There is only one place here in the US that rebuild motors for Mazda (as far as I know). The quality of them has changed through out the years (sometimes good, sometimes bad).

If the engine was replaced in 2000, that was close to when mine was replaced. Mine is still kicking so that's a good sign.

With probably the amount of engines they probably rebuild, there are bound to be some that slip past quality control. However, that doesn't mean every single engine coming out of there will be bad.

It's amazing how assorted FDs are available in such a huge price range. I guess the way to go is get the best condition car for what you can afford. I'd look at a bunch of FDs before making a decision.

yea theres a few other ones that might be worth looking at, but this seems by far the best. the other ones either have a few mods on it, dont look as good, or have a lot of miles on the engine.

So im gonna look at this one first, its a bit more then the rest of them but it might be worth it, im trying to stay under 14k if possible.

I've seen this posted car up for sale recently. Are you sure they're/you're asking for $13.5? I thought it was lower? Good luck on finding one!
