Weird turbo noise: I think need tons of help :-(

My profec B is not working properly (but that's another story...) so I decided to let the car stock and have reinstalled all the hoses to the stock wastegate and actuator, as it was before, cos I'm going to run in a circuit on saturday, and I want to run 10 psi, not 7. But ****, another problem is here!!!

Now, when secondary kicks at 4500rpm my car makes an horrible sound. It's like if inside the secondary turbo there's some kind of metal piece. And the more in blows, the more it sounds. I've tried with the car stopped (no boost pressure) and there is not sound. Shiiiiit, I'll try to make a video in order to all of you can hear it, but it's a very loud noise!!!
What do you think? Maybe my secondary turbo is blown??? Is it only a coincidence that it has happened after the "stock turbo hoses reinstallation"?

Sounds like it's possible your secondary ingested something or is otherwised unbalanced (bearings?) When the fins get bent or there's too much shaft play they'll cause that scraping/whining noise when they start spinning at higher rpms. Pop off your intake pipe and inspect the compressor wheel and also check for shaft play. Could be a coincidence or something could have gotten sucked through the turbo enough to damage it. Happened to me once, the turbo sucked a rubber grommet in from the intake pipe. Once i dislodged it (no boost at all) the turbo made the same noise you described.

Is it easy to get to the compressor wheel? I should check the secondary one, the one at behind... Can I inspect it with only removing the intake piping, or do I need to remove more things??

This is the link to the video. The third time is when it can be heared better, but I can assure you the sound is much louder than it seems to be in the video:

I think you need to remove your intake pipes and have a look-see at the compressors.

Anything like this? There are a couple possibilities... good to know that more than one guy is dealing with the problem.

I know how ur feeling. My saab turbo does the same ounce ina while. Ive looked into everything and my shaft, fins all are fine. If same for you, their isnt much more you can consider accet for bearings. My saab tho, dont have any.

Horrible feeling when stuff like this happens. Good luck

deffinatly sounds like shaftplay and fins rubbing on the housing.... but its going to be hard checking that.... you need to look at the inside of the compressor housing and fins of the secondary turbo to look for scrape marks..... problem is you would need to take the twins apart to see the secondary turbo compressor housing.

I'll take a look at the turbo housing now!
The strangest thing is that my boost doesn't seems to lose power. The chattering noise is there, but it seems to push high...

Well, thanks anyway. My turbos have only 50.000 miles on them, and are blowing at stock 10 psi, and they seem to be in a very nice shape.

I have the same sound from my rebuilt secondary turbo. I hope the problem is a hose, just like on yours.

Yep! I hope that you are also lucky As I have said, the noise was louder than it seems to be in the video, it was scaring.
