Weird thing...about my boost gague and AVC-R

Last time before i start the car.. i looked at the boost gauge... it was little bit under the 0 PSI.. than i looked at my AVC-R... it also reads -36 mm/hg....

Is that normal???

Sounds like your boost gauge has a leak somewhere in the line, possibly even your AVC-R if they are reading boost from the same line. 36mm/hg is insanely low and would indicate a major problem if it is motor related, I have a feeling you have a vacuum/boost leak somewhere in those lines.

mjw: He stated that it read 36mm of Hg WITHOUT the car running. Yes, if the vacuum was that low when idling, that would be bad!

Because I don't have a boost gauge yet (come on Omori, bring out those gauges!), I'm not sure if normal atmospheric changes could move the needle that much. 36mm Hg = about 1.4 inches of Hg.

Can anybody with a boost gauge give their opinion whether that much of a variance is possible due to atmospheric changes?

Wait a second, the boost gauge is a little below 0 before starting the car? Yes, the needle should be somewhere at 0.

Mine rests just a hair below zero. Basically, your boost gauge should be:

0 -> Car not started

-17 to -19 -> Car running at Idle

When i don't start the car.. its like lil bit below zero and AVCR saids 10-30 mm/hg.... and when i start the car...sometime its like 16-17 inch/hg and most of time its 15 inch / hg....
