this is a weird one
ok..i got my 7 like 2 months ago with a boost leak (y-pipe)and a broken check valve to the pressure box. at first it smoked under the passenger side dash while driving or from the area or the front or the downpipe or rear turbo when i poped ith hood. i fixed those 2 problems and i don't see any smoke . now i get a 11-8-10 boost from a 6-4-6. the car has a funny smell and it slightly burns the passengers eyes when pushing it hard at high speeds. does anyone know what this could be???????? i had a compression check and it was between 6.2-6.8 in every chamber at 225 rpm. please help.
Well the 11-8-10 boost sounds ok if the car is stock. What's the smell - oil, gas, coolant? Is it still smoking? The only two things I can think of are 1) make sure the rubber grommet in the back of the engine bay down by the ABS is still there. If not, it's a really big hole into the passenger compartment and fumes could be coming in through there. And 2) was the car pushed really hard while you had the boost leak? The turbos will keep spinning until they make the necessary boost which can really hurt the car since they'll never make that boost with the leak. If so the turbos could have cooked a bearing possibly and now it's just wearing more & more when you really push the car.

i kinda did push the car a couple of times before i got the boost gaugebut if i cooked a bearing how would the smoke escape the turbo. there is no visible smoke anymore but i just checked the smell again and it kinda smeels like exhaust.
