weird idling at start up and possible coolant leaking???!?
so i go to start my fd this morning and everything was working fine. i go to run some errands and drive about 20-30 minutes to where i needed to go (on the highway). i get to where i needed to be and about 5 or 6 minutes later i get back in my car and try to start it up and it wouldnt fire up. it would try to but it wouldnt turn over...
i left the car there and about a hour or so later i go back there to bring it back home. i start it and it had a weird kind of idle to it. eventually the weird idle went back to normal...
now 10 minutes ago i go to start my car and it was idling/running really rough for about a minute or two... i go to back out of my driveway and i see that there was sum fluid on the road. kind of panicking i go get some more coolant and put it in the radiator. i fill it up and let it go for a couple minutes. start it up and once again rough idling for a couple minutes and then it runs ok?
oh and my coolant light came on and that is why i put more coolant in...
whats wrong? anything major? any advise would be awesome!... :/

I suggest you schedule an appt here:

Have them do a compression test. You should also do a coolant system pressure test to isolate your coolant leak(s). rotaries don't like to be overheated or run low on coolant so get this sorted ASAP before you wind up needing a new motor. Read the coolant thread linked to in the FAQ to better understand the coolant system and the symptoms you are seeing.

Where was the coolant leaking from? Was it leaking from the front passenger side of the car(overflow tank)? WHen the car has sat for several hours and then started does it smoke on the cold startup? Hopefully it isnt a coolant seal failure. Also, how much vacuum is the engine pulling around 8-900 rpms.
