Weird Fuel Leak

I swapped out my primary injectors and put 550's back in to replace the 850's that were in there. This is on a rebuild that I have yet to get started.

Anyway, I have a fuel leak, and I took the upper plenum off and inspected the injectors, rails, lines, banjo connection, fpr, etc and there wasn't a drop of fuel to be found. But everytime I prime the fuel system and turn the motor over, one I get a good mist of fuel out the lower plug holes, and two I have enough fuel leaking around the downpipe that it will drip down off the heat shields and on the ground for a few minutes afterwards and then stop.

Where the hell is that much fuel coming from, and after I primed the system and had no leaks before I tuned the motor over I had the egi fuse and the fuel pump relay fuse pulled, so how the hell is fuel even getting in there during cranking if the fuses are pulled? Injector stuck open?

An injector could be stuck, or the O-ring at the base of the injector is bad/ripped. If that's the case, pressurzied fuel will go around that O-ring straight into the motor, it will not be an external leak.

Pull the injectors and check their O-rings. Always use new O-rings and a light coat of oil on the O-rings so they don't tear during installation - VERY easy to get a small nick on an O-ring.

That's the first thing that's made sense to me during this whole ordeal. I just figured if it was leaking it would push the fuel out on the exterior of the engine.

Thanks Dale, I'll rip the primaries back out and see whats going on in there.
