Weird electrical prob - wont start + radio turns off

Just started happening recently, now more frequently. When I go to start the car, I can turn it to "on" and get all electrical power etc goin, but right when I try to START the car, I hear a loud click, then lose all electrical power instantly, and I have to take off the battery cables, jiggle with em for a bit and put them back on. After I do that, either it'll repeat itself when I try to start, or the car will start. My voltage is perfect as well.

Another thing that started happening today was that sometimes when I hit the brakes, my deck would turn off then reboot itself...I'm not sure on the issue with that; again the voltage is good when this is happening. Could this be a bad battery?

take a battery reading with the car off, then with the lights on. how far does it drop?

That is pretty common with corroded connections at the battery. The corosion is more conductive (but not very) while it is still cold. As soon as starting current warms it, it will not conduct much, and voltage drops to near zero.

Thoroughly clean your battery connections and look for corrosion in the cable crimps. Fix those and you should fix the problem.

Sounds like a loose and or a heavily corroded terminal. Check over your connections!!!

ima agree with the batt terminal chk, and ask if you have any other electrical goodies, i.e. aftermarket alarm/keyless entry, turbo timer, added stero stuff??

Pretty sure it was the terminal connectors. I found two threads from people who had the radio issue, and it was terminals. I bought new ones and cleaned the posts and got these suckers on really tight, and its been working perfectly all day so far
