Waterpump issue 93<>94??

I have a 94 FD and went to replace the waterpump today. Called all over, and only napa had one, so I went to get it. got there and the waterpump looked a bit different than mine. The guy said there were different part numbers for the 93 and the 94 waterpumps. I was dumbfounded for 2 reasons.

1 I didn't know they had different waterpumps.

2 I have a 94 FD and my waterpump matched the 93 one on his computer, which leads me to beleive that Fuego Racing SCREWED me AGAIN by putting a 93 waterpump back on my FD when he rebuilt it, since he prob didn't even know which was mine with the millions of junk parts he has laying around.

Has anyone had this issue? Will that 94 waterpump that he had, work in my 93 housing? It didn't even look like the pully would bolt on, as it wasn't just 4 plain holes, it had many holes, and they didn't appear to line up with my pully.

The mounting for the water pump has never changed (i.e. the same water pump housing has always been used). So, if you have a water pump that doesn't use the same bolts, then most likely it's the wrong pump for the car. It may be a '94 pump, just not for an RX-7.

To my knowledge, there hasn't been a different pump. Every place that I see all has the same part number for the pump. Typically, if there is a revision, it just supercedes the old part.

As far as I know all the water pumps are the same. I would go with the mazda part on this one.

All the FD pumps are the same, even the ones on the later jspec motors from what I have seen.

Like i posted about the electronic shocks for a fd, sometimes the parts store computer has false info. you never know it might be a water pump for a fc. And it doesnt help that the workers there are not the smartest. I think the factory one from Ray was like $60. I would get a factory water pump.
