Water Thermosensor and Fuel Thermosensor - symptoms if swapped
during the install of my new motor, I accidentally swapped the water thermosensor for the fuel thermosensor. The connectors are identical in color but not the wiring to them. Of course, I didn't check.
The car ran fine except for a lot of backfiring and fireballs at night, i.e., running rich. I thought may be it was a bad thermosensor so I hooked up the datalogit and it's showing fuel at 95C and water at 38C. WTF, I checked the wiring color and sure enough I did f*ck it up.
Well, the car runs without backfiring and my fan comes on at the designated temp now.
so double check these connectors when you're putting your engine together.
