Water temps rise after engine shot down....Normal?
I have noticed this lately, I normaly run between 185 and 190 during operation, but after I park and shut the engine off, the temperature will slowly rise sometimes as high as 225 before it begins to fall. Is this normal? The car never overheats and the coolant light never comes on.
When you shut your car off the coolant stops cirulating so it will just heat up as the motor is still hot. If you were to start your car you would see temps drop pretty quikly because the coolant is moving again.
Its normal. If your car is garaged, I would leave the hood open after you park it. This will help keep some of the plastic/rubber items from "cooking" after shutdown. I prop my hood open every time I park it in the garage.
