Water temp gauge

Got a question. I'm new at this and need some help. I'm trying to install a new autometer water temp gauge on my fd and have tried two spots to locate it on the filler neck.. both spots don't seem to work. Both of the areas are already drilled and tapped, but sealed up with a threaded hex head nut.. The one is too close to the air compressor pulley and the other will not let the top go back on the filler neck.. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks, Gil

I bought a greddy radiator hose adapter(36mm) and put it in the radiator hose between the filler neck and the air box. Any Greddy dealer can get you one. It has worked very well. I didn't want to start drilling and tapping holes.
