Water temp

Just installed an Apexi FMIC and Koyo radiator and seeing if my temp is any cooler. I let it sit for about 35 min with the hood closed and saw temp get to about 111 C(231 F). Is this a good temp to be sitting at or is this too high? I do have the .9 bar ast cap. Should I upgrade to a 1.1 bar cap? Thanks for any help.

Mine never gets above 100. Koyo rad, 20/80 water/antifreeze ratio, 170 T-stat. Don't even have to use my fan mod anymore. I guess it 'll probably get to 231 if your idleing that long, did you fans kick on?

Only one of the fans comes on. I thought the one on the passenger side would only come on with the AC. Does it start from a temp setting?

230? Way too high, especially just for idling. When I let mine ilde it hits 94 on the PFC and the fans go on then turn off, and the temp goes back down to 89 on the PFC, unti it rises to 94 again, and so on.

94 = 199.

Check the shop manual, it states that normal operating temps are around 203 to 212. 203 is when your thermostat should open fully.

When was the last time you changed the thermostat?

My fans hits on 226-230 °F, my country is very hot all the year and I find traffic jams everyday.

My car has the stock radiator.

...but, if you turn on the parking lights the fans will come on at 210 °F, so your car will run less hot. -I read in www.scudriaciriani.com that the parking light stuff was an electrical mistake in 93 and early 94 models-

210°F = 97.9 °C
230°F = 108.9 °C

I think that if the cooling system say to the fans come on at 230°F is because that is like a safe limit, there is a control system and the engine temp is controlled by it and the fan control begins at 230°F. Well I don´t like 230°F anyway but I am not sure about how risky is to run at 230°F.

I am saving to buy a Fluidyne radiator, but the temp will rise to 210 °F -with the parking lights on- or 230°F anyway the difference will be that the engine will take more time to reach that temps and will keep that temps running in a track. With the stock radiator the control system is not capable to maintain the temp at 210°F or 230°C, it will rise and the engine will be overheated.
