Very true, but the aquamist pump is pretty small in comparison.

I've got the aquamist 1S system and it works great. I'm sure if you can build a much better system for less than the 1S though, but it took me about an hour and a half to do it all. Not too hard at all

Most water injection kits inject a water/alcohol mix either before your intercooler, or prior to the throttle body, or both. The systems are typically designed to inject a steady percentage of water. Your air/fuel ratio becomes your air/fuel/water/alchohol ratio (momentarily).
Water has 6 times the heat absorbtion properties of gas and can help dramatically reduce detonation. It also can steam clean rotor housings reducing carbon buildup and hotspots. Some people tune for this system running much leaner than normal. It is said, water injection can make running on pump gas like running on race gas.
There are people on this forum who run 20 lbs of boost on pump gas.
People also use the water/alcohol mix to reduce heatsoak and lower intake temperatures, making your air charge more dense, creating more power.
As with everything, there are those who don't believe in it. they believe water will reduce the "lubricating" quality of the oils in your engine, or take up the space where "air" could be occupying. There are even those who don't use it because they think it might "rust" components.

. I had to wire in the wiper bottle pump and a pulse extender to use as a priming pump, because my pump rests above the water bottle.
