wastegate fireworks

I was having some fun the other day practice racing my 7 when i missed 3rd and blew a GIANT fire ball that sounded like a blockbuster out the waste gate. yes, out the wastegate and it came out the front r wheel area and lit up the whole road, it was just out of control. I did it again by accident on another run cause for some reason its realy hard to put it in 3rd at redline. But is this a common thing? ive never seen anything like it, much more intense than the normal backfire out the exhaust.

What are your mods ?
If you are stock , it could not be the wastegate cause the seq. turbos wastegate is not dumped out to the atmosphere . mm...you might wanna check the turbo manifold , dp and cat .

you have a single turbo ? giant fireballs and flames are normal. its also normal not be to able to get into 3rd gear at high rpm. a torque brace and short shifter usually help

My mods are : exhaust, dp, intake, avc-r, boost is set at constant 10 psi (creeps to 13) and a radiator. Everything else is stock. someguy, if the wastegate doesnt blow off to atmosphere than where is it coming from?
