Question Wastegate clattering??

I've been having this weird noise coming from my engine bay for a while now (6mos.). It sounds like something inside my motor is rattling around. The engine pulls pretty hard and the noise does not seem to have any effect on performance, and if so, just a little.
It starts to happen only when I go WOT and attempt to hit full boost. It starts out slow then speeds up as engine speed builds. However, on some days it barely does it or even not at all. The thing that worries me is that it seems to be getting worse.

My question is,
has anyone had a wastegate make a fluttering/clattering noise? It seems like the only thing that could be making the noise since it seems to happen as boost starts to build.

Anyone had any noises like this?

Are you absolutely sure it's not engine knock?

Engine knock is VERY VERY BAD on a rotary and can easily result in death of the engine. Engine knock sounds kinda like someone hitting the top of the engine with a small hammer. PING! PING! PING!

If it's not that, it could be the precat disintegrating, main cat rusting out... something like that maybe....?

I thought it was knock too, except that it happens every time I get on it. I doubt the engine would have lasted 6 months knocking that many times. If so, then rotorys are a lot stronger than I thought!
It couldn't be the cats because they are gutted and I just put on a downpipe. Also, the noise is very rhythmic, meaning, it is a steady clattering that matches the engine speed.

I was getting a sound like that and it ended up being the rod for my turbo control actuator on the bottom of the turbo the little C clip that holds the rod in place came off so the flap it controls was just loose in there. Oh yeah by the way that was also why I wasnt getting any boost from my second turbo.

That sounds like something I was imagining, but I am getting boost in the secondary. Thanks, I'll check that anyway.
