Hey everyone, i am installing a walbro fuel pump, i installed supra (Denso) fuel pumps in the past but no walbros. The Denso is trully a direct fit but the walbro isn't made the same way.

For those who installed one of these, did it end up looking like this? anyone has a better suggestion as to how to install it?

i am afraid it might leak since it is a little crooked, not aligned perfectly with the pipe. Any feedback or good idea is appreciated.

looks like you are using the stock filter on it. are you also using the stock spacer and o ring and cap for it as well? as long as the spacer and o ring and everything is snug in there it should be good. If you want to test it. Just hook it up to a 12v source and ground. grab a bucket of gas and another empty and see whats going on.

Sorry that I can not be very specific as I have forgotten how my Walbro looked exactly when I installed it. Yet, I don't remember having it lean as your picture indicates.

I also seem to remember that the kit came with a new bottom plastic piece that I had to use to make it fit well.

If you get the install kit it has a new rubber base that will line it up! It might work but it might not, its up to you!

 

hmm well that's all that came with the box, only the pump, nothing else.

I am using all other OEM components.

 

hmm well just realised there is indeed a kit that is made for the rx-7, i don't have that though.

anyone ever installed the pump without the kit?

 

If the pump was new, it should have at least come with a new strainer/filter and bottom housing base to sit the fuel pump properly. When I did my install i had cut the metal flange off the housing and flared the tube to use a fuel hose with worm-drive clamps. The way you have it right now was exactly how I initially approached the install, but soon realized that the fuel pump o-ring on the oem metal tuble flange doesn't hold fuel pressure for squat, not for my setup anyway. Once pressurized it would just spit the o-ring out. I probably didn't get an "rx-7" specific kit either, but its been working fine since.
