alright guys, we need more people involved in the viton tubing. its not that cheap that is why i need more involvement. i did run into one wall. i cant find 3.5mm tubing. im getting the sizes off of the hosetechniques website. i dont feel that we will need 8mm. does anyone know if we can just use more 4mm in place of the 3.5mm or should i just use SAE and get it as close as possible. anyone???

Kris,

Check this website out. It gives the sizes.

McMaster Carr has the Viton on Page 95 in their ebook online.

1/8"=3.2mm by the website.

The problem arises in the thickness. I think that Viton in the same size as stock would work just fine. I don't know this for a fact. I think 1/8" ID with 1/16" Thickness (1/4" outside dia) would work fine. Thicker would be less kink resistant, but cost is a big factor.

The 1/4" ID 1/8"thick, (1/2" O.D) is extremely expensive. Since these hoses are not bending much, maybe the 1/16" thick (about 1/2 price) might work. As long as it does not collapse.

It is important to get 60 Shore Durometer to allow the hose to stretch and fit over the solenoids.

I would be interested, but I am concentrating my money on an engine (reman or JSpec) right now. I figured depending on the discount at McMaster Carr, you could get a discount set around $150-$175 per person. You probably only need 5 people to get the right amount for discounted costs. 5 people at 10 feet for the larger hose. 5 people at 35 feet for the smaller hose (175 feet). There is debate as to whether you need 30,33,or 35 feet.

Hose choices make a big difference in price.

I know that where I work, they get about a 10% discount on the listed price, and there is also a 3% discount for net 30 paid. I don't think I can order it through work, but maybe someone else can to help the discount.

The group buy will end up near $1000 for 5 people, so probably need to get the money first, but they do have this stuff in stock. Just need to divvy up and ship out.

PS I searched for another source, but could not locate a cheaper source. Maybe you can.
