Still haven't got it sorted out, I am still waiting on some odds and ends to get the car running first, then I will look at the clutch again.

Yes I used the pedal to bleed, movement was fine with the valve open. Once the valve was closed, the pedal became stiff.

Update

Well, it looks like I am going to have to drop the transmission. After doing a little research on the workings of the pull-type clutch, I found that the release bearing was actually disengaged (not attached to the pressure plate)this whole time. To re-engage the release bearing I removed the slave cylinder, and manually pushed the clutch fork to cause the release bearing to engage the pressure plate. To verify that it was engaged, I inserted a flat tip screwdriver between the wedge collar and release bearing and they stayed engaged. So, I re-installed the slave cylinder, and as soon as I step into the car and press the clutch pedal, I immediately notice that it was now traveling completely to the floor and not nearly as stiff as before. However, after the third push of the pedal, a "pop" was heard. To confirm what I already knew, I went back under the car to see that the release bearing had separated from the pressure plate once again. This leads me to believe that either the wedge collar or the wedge collar ring needs to be replaced. So I will go ahead and drop the tranny tomorrow.

Does anyone know if the Exedy stage 1 clutch kit that Racing Beat sells includes the wedge collar and ring? Since I am going to be dropping the tranny anyway, I will go ahead and put something a little beefier in there and kill two birds with one stone.

Most kits do not include the ring and wedge collar. I suggest you call Racing Beat to find out.
