very serious stalling problem. HELP PLS.

hey guys,, my car seems to stall everyonce in a while, seems to be when the ac is on only, i think it might be my problem not engaging the clutch properly.

The problem isnt the stalling so much but when it does stall the brakes seem to go all hard and it wont brake!!! is this common,, i have to pull the hand brake to get it to stop. Lucky it will only stall in very very slow traffic usually between shifts, but if it ever does this when im going moderately fast then im as good as screwed.

You need to eat more wheaties!!

The brake gets hard to push because the engine is not running anymore. And the system is a Vaccum assited brake system. ( that big black booster on the firewall) That part of the story is normal. It will still function properly, just needs alot more force to be pushed( again i think you need more wheaties if you cannot push in the brake pedal without any assistance.) Sorry not bagging on you it just isn't that hard. Just unexpected and maybe you thought you would hurt something by forcing it.

As for the stalling with the a/c on do a search for that and you will find 8 million or more posts on that issue. I think it was mostly ECU related but I remove the A/C out of every car I have so i don't remember cause it doesn't matter.. to me.

Here is a place to start reading more on it.

My car does this too. It does it without the A/C being on too. When I press in the clutch the RPM's drop below my normal idle and stalls. This continues even if I raise the idle to around 1100rpms. But I set it at 1500rpms and it doesn't do it, it falls right down to 1500 and stabilizes.

I just set my TPS. I set the throttle plate to "zero" before doing it by adjusting the idle screw. But I do have a question, what does that screw on the underside in the back of the throttle body do?

My dashpot is bad, but I've heard many peopls are and I don't think this is causing the problem, because it happens even when coasting and clutching it several seconds after releasing the gas.

Any detailed ways to set the idle speed from scratch and with no commander?
